Meet Our Judges!
We are blessed and honoured to have gathered an esteemed panel of judges from across the Manchester and dog world. We extend sincere thanks to all of them for their willingness to support our show. Read below for more information on their extensive experience in the breed and beyond! For ease of reference, judges are presented in alphabetical order.
Judy Anderson
Assignment: Best Head Competition
Judy has been involved in purebred dogs since 1971 and with Manchester Terriers since 1988 under the Oasis Standard Manchester Terrier prefix. Along with her late-husband, Gary, she has bred or co-bred many dogs that have been #1 in our breed, including both AMTC National Specialty and multiple group winners.
Judy was honoured to judge the American Manchester Terrier Club's National Sweepstakes in 2008 and received a tremendous entry of 64. She was also was honoured to judge the 2019 Manchester Terrier of The Year competition as the panel's breeder judge.

Jo Ann Emrick
Assignment: Best Dressed Competition
Jo Ann Emrick has been involved in the sport of purebred dogs since 1973, breeding alongside her late-husband Bill under the Wilane prefix. Standard Manchester Terriers came into their lives in the mid 1980's and she never looked back. Born and raised in Connecticut, USA, the last 48 years she has called Texas her home.
Active in breeding and showing dogs in different venues in earlier years, today her focus is a massive love of collecting Manchester memorabilia. She is also actively involved in the American Manchester Terrier Club's Judge's Education program, mentoring aspiring Judges, breeders and also willing to help anyone starting out in the breed. Jo Ann is a long time member of the Canadian Manchester Terrier Club.

Joy Henderson
Assignment: National Specialty Competition (Toy Manchester Terriers)
Joy Henderson has been showing and training dogs since 1967, earning over 100 All-Breed Best in Shows, multiple Specialty wins and High in Trials with her Doberman Pinschers and Manchester Terriers (Toy and Standard). From the 1980s until 2009, Joy successfully showed many of Canada's top Toy and Standard Manchester Terriers. In addition to hundreds of groups wins and dozens of Best in Shows, her dogs regularly placed among Canada's top dogs in the Toy and Terrier groups. Even today, her Am/Can Ch Salutaire Foolhardy remains the top winning Standard Manchester in Canadian breed history with 25 All-Breed Best in Shows, numerous specialty wins and over 100 Group 1sts.
Now retired from handling, along with her husband, Vaughn Franske, Joy continues to teach conformation and obedience classes and offers numerous training seminars each year. Joy was a founding member of the Canadian Manchester Terrier Club.

Rodney Herner
Assignment: Gone But Not Forgotten Conformation Competition
Rodney Herner has been involved in Toy Manchester Terriers for decades, having bred his first champion in 1958. While actively breeding, he finished over 50 champions under the kennel name Renreh, including many Toy Group , Best in Show , and National Specialty Winners. Ch. Renreh Lorelei of Charmaron, bred by Rodney and owned by Charles and Mari-Beth O’Neill, remains the only Toy Manchester to have won the Toy Group at the Westminster Kennel Club show. She was also a multi Best in Show winner, a rare accomplishment for Toy Manchesters in the 1970’s. Rodney has served the breed in many roles over the years, including as past President of the American Manchester Terrier Club.
Rodney has been an AKC approved judge since 1995 and is currently approved to judge Hounds, Toys Terriers and Non-Sporting as well as Best in Show. He has enjoyed assignments at at variety of prestigious events, including the National Dog Show in Philadelphia, the Morris and Essex Kennel Club in 2010 and 2015, Montgomery County Kennel Club twice and the Woofstock show in California.

Elizabeth (Tina) Sandford
Assignment: National Specialty Competition (Standard Manchester Terriers)
Elizabeth (Tina) Sandford Tina’s involvement in purebred dogs began in the early 90's starting in the working group with a Rottweiler. In 1996 she purchased her first Manchester Terrier (Am/Cdn Ch Dresscircle Cashflow Poricia). With the Purchase of “Kayle” the Manchester then became our primary focus and under the Kreuzritters name bred Best in Show, National Specialty and National Best in Sweepstakes winners. Tina was a founding member of the Canadian Manchester Terrier Club and has held a variety of positions within the club.
Having spent the past decade focusing on handling she has piloted breeds in every group. More notably as a Terrier handler she has conditioned and shown a variety of Terrier breeds, from finishing championships to campaigning to #1 in their breeds standing. She currently is working towards the requirements for obtaining a judges license.

Clara Theiss
Assignment: Best Trick Competition
Clara has been involved in dogs since 1984 and has titled dogs of several breeds to the highest levels in multiple dog sports, including agility, obedience, rally, flyball and conformation. The Toy Manchester holds a very special place in Clara's heart and she has titled several over the years, achieving many firsts for the breed. Her first TMT was her 'one in a million dog' Murphy (Ryas Batteries Not Included). Murphy was the first Toy Manchester to achieve an OTCH (CKC), the first to receive an ATCH (AAC), and the first to compete in flyball. Today, 3 of the top 5-pointed Toy Manchester with NAFA (North American Flyball Association) are from Clara’s house, including T-Rex (Fwaggles T-Rex is in Charge), who is currently the top pointed Toy Manchester Terrier with 34,758 points and is also titled in agility and rally.
Clara is currently an active Master Level Judge for the Agility Association of Canada (AAC) as well as a course approver and supervising judge. She is still active in flyball as the team captain for K9 Thunder flyball team. She strongly believes that having fun playing with your dogs and doing the best that each of you can should be the focus of any owner, whether you are training, competing or teaching fun tricks.
